Penguins of the Macquarie Islands

The Macquarie Islands are home to four breeding species of penguin:

850,000 pairs of Royal Penguin (Eudyptes schlegeli)

200,000 pairs of Eastern Rockhopper Penguin (Eudyptes chrysocome)

130,000 pairs of King Penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus)

6,000 pairs of Gentoo Penguin (Pygoscelis papua)
