Penguins of the Kerguelen Islands

The Kerguelen Islands are home to four breeding species of penguin:

1,800,000 pairs of Macaroni Penguin (Eudyptes chrysolophus)

175,000 pairs of King Penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus)

85,000 pairs of Eastern Rockhopper Penguin (Eudyptes chrysocome)

35,000 pairs of Gentoo Penguin (Pygoscelis papua)
