Penguins of Heard & McDonald Islands

Heard & McDonald Islands are home to four breeding species of penguin:

2,000,000 pairs of Macaroni Penguin (Eudyptes chrysolophus)

17,000 pairs of Gentoo Penguin (Pygoscelis papua)

16,000 pairs of King Penguin (Aptenodytes patagonicus)

10,000 pairs of Eastern Rockhopper Penguin (Eudyptes chrysocome)
